The EU regional policy defines 10+1 thematic objectives for the 2014-2020 budgeting period, the achievement of which must also be supported by the operational programmes of the Member States: of those EDIOP supports 7 thematic objectives, which cover R&D, ICT, SME, low CO2 emission economy, tourism, employment, training and adult and vocational training. The National Parks and Wildlife Service Farm Plan Scheme was introduced on 1 January 2006 to aid the farmer/landowner to enhance and aid biodiversity in their farms/land. This is done by creating optimum habitats by aiding improved stock management and grazing through fencing. Other activities include scrub clearance, hedgerow inputting and grass reseeding. |

2019: PILOT CROSS-BRODER LAND INCENTIVE SCHEME:
The Source to Tap Land Incentive Scheme is a pilot cross-border farming scheme being trialled in the River Derg area. The scheme aims to give landowners, who farm in the part of the River Derg catchment, grants of up to GBP 20,000 for a farm business based in Northern Ireland; EUR 23,000 for a farm business based in Ireland. These grants will help farmers to make some small changes in farming practice that will make the farm business more sustainable whilst also helping to protect water quality in the River Derg. |
