The U.S. Department of Energy ("DOE")…
The U.S. Department of Energy ("DOE") proposes to amend the test procedures for walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers to harmonize with updated industry standards, revise the test methods to more fully represent field energy use, and better account for the range of walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer component equipment designs. DOE also proposes to revise certain definitions applicable to walk-ins. DOE is seeking comment from interested parties on the proposal and announcing a public meeting to collect comments and data on its proposal. (...)

Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation…
Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Commercial Water Heating Equipment: The Energy Policy and Conservation Act, as amended ("EPCA"), prescribes energy conservation standards for certain commercial and industrial equipment, including commercial water heaters, hot water supply boilers, and unfired hot water storage tanks (hereinafter referred to as "commercial water heating (CWH) equipment"). EPCA requires the U.S. Department of Energy ("DOE") to periodically determine whether more-stringent standards for CWH equipment would be technologically feasible and economically justified, and would result in significant energy savings. In this notice of proposed rulemaking ("NOPR"), DOE proposes to amend the standards for certain classes of CWH equipment for which DOE has tentatively determined there is clear and convincing evidence to support more-stringent standards. Additionally, DOE is proposing to codify standards for electric instantaneous CWH equipment from EPCA into the Code of Federal Regulations ("CFR"). (...)

Energy Conservation Program: Test Procedure for Portable Air Conditioners: The U.S. Department of Energy ("DOE") proposes to amend the test procedure for portable air conditioners ("portable ACs") to incorporate a measure of variable-speed portable AC performance and make minor clarifying edits. DOE also proposes a new test procedure to improve representativeness for all configurations of portable ACs, which relies on a substantively different measure of cooling capacity and energy consumption compared to the current portable AC test procedure. Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Single Package Vertical Units: The Energy Policy and Conservation Act, as amended (EPCA), prescribes energy conservation standards for various consumer products and certain commercial and industrial equipment, including single package vertical air conditioners (SPVACs) and single package vertical heat pumps (SPVHPs), collectively referred to as single package vertical units (SPVUs). EPCA also requires the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to periodically review standards. In this notice of proposed rulemaking (NOPR); notification of proposed determination (NOPD), DOE proposes to amend the current energy conservation standards for SPVUs such that the existing standard levels would be based on a new cooling efficiency metric of Integrated Energy Efficiency Ratio (IEER) for SPVACs and SPVHPs, and the current heating efficiency metric of Coefficient of Performance (COP) for SPVHPs (but without any increase in stringency) (...)
