1.4 Harvested Timber: The FLEGT (Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade) licensing scheme is a voluntary scheme to ensure that only legally harvested timber is imported into the UK from countries with which the UK concludes bilateral FLEGT Voluntary Partnership Agreements (VPAs). Under the scheme a partner country issues FLEGT licences for every shipment of timber products covered by the agreement exported to the UK. The release for free circulation in the UK of such shipments is conditional on the acceptance by the UK competent authority of the FLEGT licence. The competent authority may verify the authenticity of the FLEGT licence and its conformity with the shipment that it covers.

To protect the environment and address the timber trade not addressed by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) by regulating the import of harvested timber

Other important objectives are the support of climate- and environment-friendly fish farming methods, the increase of the proportion of methods based on the principle of circular farming within the production systems, the maintenance and development of the biodiversity of aquatic and wetland habitats, the CO2 exemption of the sector and supporting the role of fishponds in maintaining natural values.

Co-financed subsidy programmes 2022: Environment and Energy Efficiency Operational Programme Plus (EEEOP Plus): The EEEOP Plus is the continuation of the previous EEEOP, under the new legal framework for the period of 2021-2027. Following on from and complementing the previous Operational Programme, EEEOP Plus has been extended to cover several new areas, taking into account emerging environmental concerns, the changing regulatory environment and increasing greening efforts. to reduce environmental pollution and excessive use of our resources, to protect biodiversity, to prioritize the circular economy, to promote water conservation and the development of green and blue infrastructure, as well as support the establishment of local energy communities. In addition, the primary task under PA5 is to create new jobs and reduce emissions in the carbon-intensive counties (Baranya, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Heves).
