Amendment to the List of Regulated Living Organisms under the Invasive Alien Species Act. To designate Trachemys scripta and Procambarus clarkii as Invasive Alien Species (IAS).

National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants: Miscellaneous Coating Manufacturing Technology Review: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing amendments to the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Miscellaneous Coating Manufacturing (MCM NESHAP) facilities, as required by the Clean Air Act (CAA). In order to complete the required technology review that was originally promulgated on 14 August 2020, the EPA is proposing inorganic hazardous air pollutant (HAP) standards for process vessels.

Proposed amendments to the Standards and Specification for Feed.
The amendments restrict the content of crude protein in mixed feed for animals with a view to reducing surplus nitrogen emissions through animal manure due to surplus supply of proteins included in feed. Animal species concerned: pigs, layers, broilers, ducks, beef cattle, dairy cattle and cattle fiber mixed feed.

Proposed amendments to the Standards and Specification for Feed.
The amendments restrict the content of the following substances as excessive content of copper and zinc substances included in feed for pigs is excreted through animal manure making it difficult to be composted, and the phosphorus substance in feed for pigs and fowls along with animal manure enter soils and streams contributing to eutrophication. Animal species concerned: pigs, chickens and ducks.

Proposed amendments to the Standards and Specifications for Food Utensils, Containers and Packages.
The Republic of Korea is proposing to amend the "Standards and Specifications for Food Utensils, Containers and Packages".
1) The standards for using of recycled synthetic resins are revised;
2) The standards and specifications of poly(butylene adipate terephthalate) (PBAT) synthetic resin are newly established;
3) The test methods or the wordings are revised.

Draft of Restrictions on the Importing of Asbestos-Containing Products: The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) announced asbestos as a Class 2 toxic chemical substance on 1 May 1989. Relevant regulations for handling of asbestos have been amended several times, and the use of asbestos has gradually been restricted. The use of asbestos (such as domestic manufacture of asbestos-containing products) is currently prohibited except for research, experimentation, and educational purposes. As for the control of asbestos-containing products, numerous alternatives to asbestos-containing products are already available. Therefore, to align with the international trend, the EPA is further restricting the import of asbestos-containing products to achieve the goal of maintaining environmental safety. Restrictions on the importing of asbestos-containing products will take effect from the date of the announcement.

Importation of Nursery Stock (155.02.06)
An amendment to add emergency measures has been undertaken in the Musa section in Part 3 of the notified document. The amendment adds a requirement for an import permit when importing Musa tissue culture into New Zealand.
Guidance for importers was also added to the requirements for Musa tissue culture and whole plants.
The Ministry for Primary Industries has become aware that the current requirements for importing Musa plants for planting into New Zealand do not provide an appropriate level of protection for the biosecurity risks associated with Musa tissue culture. The new requirement for a permit serves as an interim measure to manage biosecurity risk while a permanent solution is developed.

Import Health Standard: Zoo Bovidae, Giraffidae and Tragulidae (Live Animals and Semen).
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has drafted the Import Health Standard for Zoo Bovidae, Giraffidae and Tragulidae (Live Animals and Semen).

The standard allows for certain species of Bovids, Giraffids and Tragulids holding a containment approval by the Environmental Protection Authority to be imported from Australia, Canada, Europe, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, United Arab Emirates and United States of America.

Craft Risk Management Standard for Vessels.
The proposed Vessels standard combines the current vessels and biofouling requirements (currently found in CRMS- Biofoul ) into a single document. This will result in the CRMS- Biofoul being revoked. Some changes to these requirements have been made to ensure that the Vessels standard remains fit for purpose.
Major changes include extended time allowed for short-stay vessels in New Zealand, the inclusion of requirements for vessel biofouling inspections, and a change in common name of regulated pests – Lymantria species (formerly AGM) . The Lymantria species risk period will also be extended and may require more vessels to obtain certificates of freedom.
