Coal Mining Abatement Support Package (CMATSP): The Coal Mining Abatement Technology Support Package (CMATSP) was designed to provide assistance to the coal industry to reduce fugitive methane emissions, in particular ventilation air methane (VAM), by facilitating research and deployment of methane abatement technologies. The CMATSP also aimed to supplement and support the coal industry's own research activities to pilot innovative technologies to capture and mitigate methane emissions and to develop safe abatement practices.
The CMATSP was introduced in July 2011 as part of the Coal Sector Assistance Program (CSAP), and under the government's Clean Energy Future Plan. |
