Energy efficiency specifications: The notified Salvadoran Technical Regulation lays down minimum energy performance ranges as well as the testing, labelling and conformity assessment procedures that must be complied with by the lamps and luminaires described in this Regulation, which are manufactured, imported definitively, used and marketed within the territory of El Salvador.

Notification of Ministry of Industry: Declaration of the hazardous substances under the authorization of Department of Industrial Works by producer, importer, exporter or possessor (No.2) B.E. 2563 (2019): To amend the regulation and update the hazardous substances list for Declaration of the hazardous substances under the authorization of Department of Industrial Works by producer, importer, exporter or possessor B.E. 2547 (2004) .

This notification published in the Royal Gazette and in effect on 3 March 2021.

Remark. The new updating hazardous substances in this notification are the controlled chemical under Rotterdam Convention or Minamata Convention or Stockholm Convention or Montreal Protocol or United Nations Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, 1988.

This standard covers plastics container, lids and other components contact food directly. Temperature resistance shall not be less than 100°C. These are intended for single reheating form a single layer or multi-layer materials for use in microwave ovens. Also prescribes kind and abbreviation, materials, general requirements, packaging, marking and labelling, sampling and criteria for conformity and testing.

Draft Ministerial Regulation on Plastic Bags for Food (TIS 1027-2564(2021)): The draft ministerial regulation mandates plastic bags for food to conform with the standard for Plastic Bags for Food (TIS 1027-2564(2021)) .

This standard covers plastic bags for food made of virgin resin. It classifies plastic bags by the application into 3 types, i.e. for hot, cold and frozen food. It also specifies shapes, width, length, thickness. This standard prescribes requirements for appearance, tensile strength, elongation, temperature resistance, seam strength, leakage, safety requirements (e.g. overall migration and specific migration, substances in material, etc.) . It also includes packaging, marking, labelling, sampling and criteria for conformity and testing.

This standard separates plastic utensils by usability in 3 conditions i.e. high temperature, normal temperature and chilling temperature. It classifies plastic utensils for food by types of plastics into 6 types i.e. polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, poly(ethylene terephthalate), poly (vinyl alcohol) and poly (methyl pentene) . This standard specifies general requirements e.g. resistance to temperature, odor and taste, resistance to impact, safety requirements. It also includes packaging, marking and labeling, sampling and criteria for conformity and testing.
