Health Certification Requirements for Import of…
Health Certification Requirements for Import of Live Ornamental Fish into Malaysia - As of 4 February 2013, Canada has enforced their Export Certification Requirements for Live Ornamental Animals to control the import of aquatic animals and to prevent spread of diseases.
As part of the requirements, all exportations of susceptible species as listed in Schedule III of Canada's Health of Animals Regulations shall be accompanied by health certificate issued by DOF and accepted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Canada also requires the exporting country to impose import control measures before the aquatic animals are allowed to be exported to Canada. All importations of koi (Cyprinus carpio), red discus (Symphysodon discus), goldfish (Carassius auratus), zebrafish (Danio rerio), and guppy (Poecilia reticulata) into Malaysia shall be certified free from disease of concern.
Therefore, all exporting countries shall comply with the new health certification requirements for import of live ornamental fish into Malaysia by declaring free from disease of concern for the susceptible species.
