On 24 December 2020, the EU and the UK agreed the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement ("the Agreement") establishing a free trade area between the European Union and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which replaces the previous trading arrangement from 1 January 2021.
The Agreement establishes a free trade area in goods between the United Kingdom and the European Union, within the meaning of Article XXIV:8(b) of the GATT 1994, and for trade in services, an agreement within the meaning of Article V of the GATS. Provisions on trade in goods include provisions on rules of origin, preferential tariffs and other restrictive regulations of commerce. It also includes commitments concerning trade in services, and also covers other aspects of the bilateral relationship, such as public procurement, aviation, energy , road transport, social security cooperation and law enforcement cooperation. |

The Agreement establishes a free trade area for trade in goods and services within the meaning of GATT 1994 Article XXIV and GATS Article V. The Agreement establishing an Association between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Kingdom of Morocco ("The Agreement") is based on the provisions of the EU-Morocco Association Agreement and the EU-Morocco Dispute Settlement Mechanism Agreement.
