The Business Sustainability Alliance (BSA), an initiative of the South Australian Government, brings together the combined expertise of four State Government agencies. The energy efficiency program forms part of the CleverGreen Clean tech Strategies initiative announced by the Minister for Trade and Industry in November 2010.
The energy efficiency program’s intent over time is to develop a series of compelling case studies to encourage other SMEs to undertake energy audits to identify potential energy efficiency improvements.

The objective of the program is help small and medium enterprises take new clean tech products, processes and services from conception and early development through to market and stimulate economic development in South Australia.

To reduce the generation of operational waste.
The Beyond Waste Fund is a $1.35 million initiative that seeks to help businesses within the Commercial & Industrial and Construction & Demolition sectors, reduce the generation of operational waste, through building capacity and knowledge of waste reduction opportunities.

To process and recycle key waste streams.
To increase the capacity of the Victorian resource recovery sector to process and recycle key waste streams.

To accelerate the development of pre-commercial energy technologies that leverage Victoria’s competitive advantages in energy resources. Working with both coal and renewable resources, the strategy aims to accelerate a variety of pre-commercial energy technologies through research, development, demonstration and deployment stages, so that they are ready for market-uptake.

To protect the environment.
The initiative aims to integrate current farm engagement, extension and works programs with delivery modernisation programs.
Anticipated environmental benefits delivered by linking existing NRM programs to infrastructure modernisation programs, includes:
Identifying where in the landscape modernisation programs will have NRM impacts.
Managing negative NRM impacts with existing and new tools.
Optimising the positive NRM impacts.
Reporting on the overall NRM benefits generated by the integrated programs.
