Environment related objective
To control the trans-boundary movements of scheduled waste destined for disposal as well as for recovery or recycling in order to protect the Malaysian environment from illegal/illicit trafficking. Other than failure to comply with the normal criteria, the application will be rejected whenever Malaysia does not have the environmentally sound facilities to accept the scheduled wastes. Every application on import of scheduled waste s is subjected to a thorough evaluation of environmental impacts as well as country obligation to the International Convention i.e. Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Waste and Their Disposal.
