Guidelines for the Export, Shipment, Import and Release of Biological Control Agents and Other Beneficial Organisms: This standard provides guidelines for risk management related to the export, shipment, import and release of biological control agents and other beneficial organisms. It lists the related responsibilities of contracting parties to the IPPC, national plant protection organizations (NPPOs) or other responsible authorities, importers and exporters (as described in the standard) . The standard addresses biological control agents capable of self-replication (including parasitoids, predators, parasites, nematodes, phytophagous organisms, and pathogens such as fungi, bacteria and viruses), as well as sterile insects and other beneficial organisms (such as mycorrhizae and pollinators), and includes those packaged or formulated as commercial products. Provisions are also included for import for research in quarantine stations of non-indigenous biological control agents and other beneficial organisms. (...)

The proposed rules establish requirements for biomass fuels produced from wood if used in installations producing electricity, heating, cooling or fuels. The draft rules are an addition to the rules laid out in Directive (EU) 2018/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2018 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources (REDII) . (...)
Unlike REDII the Danish additional rules entails that the sustainability and greenhouse gas criteria apply for importers and manufacturers of wood pellets, if they import/produce equal to or above 20000 tons annually. (...)
Furthermore, the rules contain two additional criteria that do not follow from the REDII. One aims to protect biodiversity and the other aims to prevent the use of unsustainable and climate-damaging biomasses. (...)
Environment related objective
To ensure a reduced emission of greenhouse gasses compared to fossil fuels and safeguard the environment and the biodiversity. The purpose with the Danish additional rules is to reduce the risk that biomass fuels produced from wood used in Denmark originates from a non-sustainable source. By including more economic operators than REDII, the vast majority of wood-based biomass fuels used in Denmark to produce energy will have to meet the sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions saving criteria. The rules will furthermore contribute to safeguard that wood-based biomass used for energy in Denmark origins from forests where carbon stocks and sinks are preserved. In addition, the rules will limit emissions in the production chain, for example emissions related to the transport or manufacture of wood pellets or other fuels. The rules will reduce dedicated felling of entire larger trees for energy purposes from areas/countries where carbon stock decreases. Additionally the rules will result in greater consideration for areas with high biodiversity or endangered or vulnerable species. The requirements will thus contribute to the global climate effort as well as to the achievement of European goals related to climate and biodiversity
