2022: Support to Improvement of Marine Fishery and Mariculture - Sustainable Management and Conservation of Fishery Resources and Other Marine Organisms: assessment of available resources of fish and other marine organisms; monitoring of the situation and assessment of sustainable exploitation of fish and other marine organisms; collection and processing of data on catch, fleet and fishing effort, biological, environmental and socio-economic data in the marine fishery; monitoring the population dynamics of fish, research of potential mariculture locations in the open sea, conducting research and/or introducing innovative solutions to improve the quality of the environment, introducing more selective fishing tools and gear to preserve and protect fish and other marine organisms and reduce costs of catching.

1.1 Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFC): Mauritius has successfully implemented its Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) Phase out Management Plan since 2005 and importation of CFCs have been completely banned. Presently, a Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFC) Phase out Management Plan (HPMP) has been developed/approved in 2011 and importation of HCFC refrigerants is being controlled.

To restrict the quantity of the HCFC refrigerants being imported based on the quota as defined in the HCFC Phase out Management Plan (HPMP) under the Montreal Protocol

3.2.1 Endangered species of flora and fauna: Mauritius together with Madagascar and Indian Ocean Islands has been designated by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a biodiversity hotspot. The majority of endemic Mauritian flora and fauna are considered threatened and with some 60 species of native plants believed to be already extinct.

Sheltered Farming Scheme: To encourage farmers to shift from traditional open field cultivation to sheltered farming system. This will enable farmers to mitigate effects of adverse climatic conditions; improve production capacity and the quality of farm produce.
The scope of the scheme is being extended to farmers engaged in production of cut flowers, ornamentals, as well as hydroponics and bio farming activities.
