Proposed changes to the Industrial Chemicals (General) Rules and Categorisation Guidelines: The consultation paper invites public comments on a suite of proposals relating to categorisation, reporting and record-keeping obligations - through proposed amendments to the Industrial Chemicals (General) Rules 2019 and the Industrial Chemicals Categorisation Guidelines administered by the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS). Key proposals in this consultation include: Replacing written undertakings with records that will make compliance easier; Greater acceptance of International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) names for reporting and record keeping; Changes to the categorisation criteria to benefit; small-scale soap makers; introducers of chemicals in flavour and fragrance blends; introducers of hazardous chemicals where introduction and use are controlled; Strengthening criteria and/or reporting requirements for health and environmental protection, for example, to prevent persistent organic pollutants (POPs) from being categorised as exempted or reported Introductions.

DEAS 1126-1: 2023, Fortified Processed Cereal Based Foods (FPCBF) —Specification —Part1: For persons of 6 to 59 months: This Draft East African standard specifies the requirements, sampling and test methods for Fortified Processed cereal based foods intended for persons from the age of 6 months up to 59 months. This standard does not cover products covered by EAS 72.

DEAS 1126-2: 2023, Fortified Processed Cereal Based Foods (FPCBF) —Specification —-Part 2: For persons of 5 years and above: This Draft East African Standard specifies the requirements and methods of sampling and test for Fortified Processed Cereal Based Food (FPCBF) intended for special dietary uses of persons of 5 years and above. This standard excludes fortified composite flour EAS 1024, composite flour EAS 782, Ready to Use Therapeutic Foods DEAS 1127, Processed Cereal foods for old infants and young children DEAS 72.

DEAS 1127: 2023, Ready to use therapeutic foods — Specification: his Draft East African Standard specifies requirements, sampling and test methods for Ready to use therapeutic foods (ready to eat food for people with severe and acute malnutrition from age of 6 months and above). This standard does not apply to therapeutic milk, vitamin and mineral food supplements.
