The production of molasses also increased with operation by the new company. In a related understanding, the new company will now be generating an additional volume of cane waste (bagasse) which it intends to convert to electricity for the national grid.

One of the EU's priorities is a resilient Energy Union with a forward-looking climate change policy. In February 2015, the European Commission adopted the so-called 'Energy Union Package' for ensuring secure, affordable and climate-friendly energy for citizens and businesses.

The European Energy Union means making energy more secure, affordable and sustainable. It will allow a free flow of energy across borders and a secure supply in every EU country, for every citizen. New technologies and renewed infrastructure will cut household bills and create new jobs and skills, as companies expand exports and boost growth. It will lead to a sustainable, low carbon and environmentally friendly economy, putting Europe at the forefront of renewable energy production and the fight against global warming. As a follow up to this Communication, in the coming period concrete measures will be proposed and adopted. So far, no concrete measures have been taken.

Strengthening the WTO through new rules and multilateral disciplines continues to be one of Costa Rica's objectives and is the best way to support economic growth, international cooperation and the development of all WTO Members and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As of the 1 July 2018, electricity was generated by 186 Small Hydro Power Plants (SHHPs), with total 360 MW installed capacity, from which 125 was constructed in last 10 years. Thirty-three additional SHPPs are under construction, with about total projected 63.2 MW capacity and 250 million kWh annual supply. Anual hydropower resource potential is estimated at 222.4 million kWh.

The CEMAC countries have all ratified the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. Community regulations reflecting these commitments were adopted in 2005. In accordance with these regulations, the importation, exportation and re-exportation of these substances, products that contain them and equipment that uses them are subject to the procurement of a licence issued by the Minister responsible for trade of each member State, after consulting the Minister responsible for the environment.

Guinea Bissau has adopted the Guinea Bissau Strategic Plan 2025, "Terra Ranka". It will be implemented between 2015 and 2025 and is based on six major priorities as follows: governance, infrastructure, urban development, human development, agro industry and biodiversity. These priorities aim to support competitiveness and economic growth.
