Brazil, a net exporter of crude oil, remains self-sufficient in primary energy (except for natural gas, coal, oil derivatives and hydropower). From January to November 2016 it produced a monthly average of 3.13 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboe/d), up 3.46% compared to the same period in 2015, during which 3.03 MMboe/d were produced. In 2015, the energy matrix produced 286,471 tonnes of oil equivalent (toe) (253,174 toe in 2010), which exceeded by 9.9% (about 5% in 2010) its final consumption. The Brazilian energy matrix remains one of the greenest in the world; in 2015, 41.2% (39.4% in 2014) of energy came from renewable sources compared to an average of less than 15% for the rest of the world. In 2015, it consisted of oil and oil derivatives (37.3%), sugarcane (16.9%), natural gas (13.7%), hydropower (11.3%), wood and vegetable coal (8.2%), coal (5.9%), other renewables (4.7%), uranium (1.3%), and other non-renewables (0.6%). Manufacturing and transport are the major energy consumers and represented 32.5% and 32.2% of final consumption respectively.

The MFMR (Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources) sets a total allowable catch (TAC) annually for all major or commercial fisheries with the objective of managing resources sustainably and preventing overexploitation of Namibian fish stocks. [15] Total allowable catch figures are shown in Table 4.4.
[15] Fishery scientists in the Ministry make suggestions for the TAC to a working group composed of economists and scientists. The working group then makes recommendations to the Marine Resources Advisory Council which includes various stakeholders. The Advisory Council's advice is then forwarded to the Minister for consideration and a decision and to the Cabinet for endorsement.

Efforts are being made by a newly established National Land Committee (NLC) to deal with the problem of trespassers on state land, by allowing poor persons who have settled on forest land to remain there and take care of the forest while at the same time preventing trespassers from undertaking illegal logging. In this regard, measures are being taken to more clearly demarcate forest boundaries as well as to improve coordination between the relevant government bodies and officials (the Justice Ministry, the Anti-Money Laundering Office, Police, Army and forestry and park officials).

The LEC (Lesotho Electricity Corporation) and the LHDA (Lesotho Highlands Development Authority) dominate the electricity supply industry in Lesotho. The LEC is the only transmitter, distributor and supplier of electricity in Lesotho, and the LHDA is the main power generator through its Muela Hydro Power (MHP) Station at Katse Dam. At a rated capacity of 72 MW, this station sells all the energy it produces to the LEC, but can also export small amounts to South Africa. In 2014, the average electricity selling price to LEC stood at M 0.11/kWh and the MHP Station exported less than 1% of the energy to South Africa at an average price of M 0.21/kWh.

It is estimated that over one million people work in small scale mining (as against only 6,000 in industrial mines). In view of the environmental problems created by small scale mining and the proliferation of clandestine sites and to reduce fraud, in November 2015 the Government set up the National Agency for the Supervision of Small Scale and Semi Mechanized Mining (ANEEMAS).

Bearing the title of Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreement (SFPA) , this Protocol authorizes up to 40 European Union vessels to fish for tuna, shrimps, cephalopods and demersal species in Guinea-Bissau's territorial waters against annual compensation (right of access for vessels to the EEZ, and support for sustainable fisheries and compliance with sanitary standards) of €9.2 million over the period 2014-2017. A laboratory has been built and equipped with EU financing, but it still lacks the equipment for microbiological analysis. In addition, Guinea Bissau receives a levy based on the gross registered tonnage (GRT) of the authorized vessels , and on the total tonnage of the fleet authorized to operate.

According to the authorities, in the long term, the bringing into service of the much awaited Kandadji dam and a hydro electric power station, planned for 2021, should further secure the country's supply with 130 MW of electricity. There are also plans to build five photovoltaic solar power stations, each providing from 5 MW to 30 MW. (...)
