Updating the UAE Technical Regulation "Motor vehicles - General requirements"

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) regarding the outbreak of Epizootic ulcerative syndrome disease in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates is applying temporary emergency measures to prevent the risk of introducing the Epizootic ulcerative syndrome disease through the imports of live fish and their products from the United Kingdom. Therefore, MOCCAE regulates the importation of live fish and their products from free establishments or free areas only in the United Kingdom. The competent authority in the United Kingdom should declare this additional information in the accompanied health certificates for export of live fish and their products.

This technical regulation covers Renewable Energy product focusing on Solar PV Energy , and relate to areas characterized by systems which generate electricity from renewable natural sources which consist of complex arrangements of sub systems including structures, which are installed outside of any protective environment and whose reliability and performance is affected by direct interaction with the natural environment. These areas may include the equipment and processes to produce energy , as well as the equipment to manufacture, transport and service the energy producing equipment.

Hazardous Waste (Regulation of Exports and Imports) Act 1989 (the Act) and associated regulationsThe regulatory framework implements Australia's obligations under the Basel Convention for the Control of Trans-boundary Movements of Hazardous Waste and their Disposal (Basel Convention), as well as the following related agreements and arrangements concerning the transboundary movement of hazardous and other waste:- the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Council Decision C (2001) 107 FINAL, as amended by C(2004)20;- the Waigani Convention (Convention to Ban the Importation into Forum Island Countries of Hazardous and Radioactive Wastes and to Control the Transboundary Movement and Management of Hazardous Wastes within the South Pacific Region); and - a bilateral arrangement between Australia and the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor.

Exposure draft Biosecurity Amendment (Miscellaneous Measures)
The Australian Government, through the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, has commenced consultation on an exposure draft of the Biosecurity Amendment (Miscellaneous Measures) Bill 2017 (the Bill).
The Bill makes amendments to the Biosecurity Act 2015 to enhance operation of Australia's biosecurity framework. The measures included in the Bill will:
• enhance information gathering powers to assist in the management of biosecurity risk;
• make minor and technical amendments to improve administration of the Biosecurity Act 2015 by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources and the Department of Health;
• provide an improved ability to amend legislated biosecurity import conditions in response to changing biosecurity risk.
