3.21. The HKC-Georgia FTA was signed on 28 June 2018 and will enter into force after the completion of the necessary internal procedures by both parties.
The FTA is comprehensive in scope, encompassing trade in goods and related issues, trade in services, investment (establishment), dispute settlement mechanism, and also contains provisions to ensure effective protection of intellectual property rights, promote competition, and enhance protection of environment.

The National Environmental Policy emphasizes the close linkages between the economy and the ecosystem by building the environmental variable into the economic model, highlighting the adaptation of the production sector to environmental best practices, the sustainable mining of renewable resources and incentives for profitable productive activities with a low environmental impact, including the efficient use of strategic resources for sustainable development, and the need to deal with climate change in order to reduce social, economic and environmental vulnerability

During the review period, Canada was also active in updating and expanding existing FTAs in order to modernize certain FTA provisions. The modernized Canada-Chile FTA entered into force on 5 February 2019, while implementing legislation for the modernized Canada-Israel FTA was introduced in Parliament. According to Canada, these amended Agreements have now been updated to include a number of inclusive trade elements, such as provisions on labour, the environment, trade and gender, SMEs, etc.

In 2010, the Commission rolled out its growth strategy, "Europe 2020", for the coming decade. In the context of this strategy, five objectives (concerning employment, innovation, education, social inclusion and climate / energy ) were set to be reached by 2020. Each member State has adopted its own national targets in each of these areas.

ACE (economic complementarity agreement) No. 70, whose aim is to establish the economic area of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA–TCP), was signed on 11 July 2013 by Bolivia, Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela. According to the authorities, the Agreement seeks to bring about integration that transcends the commercial sphere and is based on communitarian principles, cooperation, solidarity, and a shared determination to move forward and promote fair and sustainable development. It calls for complementarity in the face of competition, reciprocity, life in harmony with nature rather than irrational exploitation of resources, and the defence of social ownership.
