Following the Decree No. 322 of 2018 on the Regulation of the importation plant hosts from countries that have recorded infections of the fall armyworm (Spodoptera Frugiperda: Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) which was notified and published in SPS notification G/SPS/N/ARE/142/Add.1 , United Arab Emirates is applying an emergency measure to prevent the risk of entrance of the pest from India and Yemen. Therefore, the competent authority in affected countries should apply the phytosanitary measures described in the mentioned decree, and declare the measures in the phytosanitary certificate. Annex No. 4 of the list of countries, which have recorded infections of the autumn cluster insect (Spodoptera Frugiperda: Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), has been updated.

Ministerial Decree regulates the fishing and trade of sharks as below:
i) It is prohibited to export locally caught sharks throughout the year in any form. This includes shark fins.
ii) It is prohibited to import and therefore re-export sharks in any form from 1 March to 31 July every year.
iii) It is prohibited to export, import and therefore re-export shark fins in any form throughout the year.

During the seasonal ban from 1 March to 31 July, all trade in sharks will be prohibited in the UAE local market.
