Apart from the three schemes above, the Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC) also maintains the Small Business Loan Guarantee Scheme. The Scheme provides a loan guarantee for local businesses. The guarantee fund is about WST 8.5 million. A 100% guarantee is provided for loans up to WST 10,000, and an 80% guarantee for loans between WST 10,000 and WST 50,000. Beneficiaries must: be Samoan citizens, complete Start Your Business (SYB) training, have an existing business, and preferably be aged between 21 and 50 years old. Businesses supported must comply with national requirements regarding environment, labour and cyber security. According to the authorities, the Scheme has an export promotion component.
