3.86. Pakistan remains committed to achieve the two aligned objectives of sustainable development and social protection. The country has affirmed its commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by adopting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its own national development agenda through a unanimous National Assembly Resolution in 2016. Similarly, social protection has a central role in government's agenda in mitigating the effects of economic and social shocks, climate change and natural disasters.

3.90. On Climate Action pertaining to the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13, Pakistan has undertaken aggressive afforestation under the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Program, amongst other initiatives, including in green energy mentioned earlier.

Relevant information
3.91. Pakistan has also taken several proactive measures to better manage the impact of climate change. These include Glacial Lake Outburst Flood Risk reduction measures, improvement in water monitoring capacity and Sustainable Forest management unit among others. Pakistan has instituted Climate Resilient Urban Human Settlements Unit to help its cities better contend with climate change. Similarly, the National Ozone Unit will help the country limit its ozone emissions. Pakistan has approved the Climate Change Act 2017 with the aim of systemizing climate resilient initiatives.

National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development (FNDAMR) regulations spell out that investments are mostly subsidized at a basic rate of 50% (some are reimbursed at lower percentages and certain irrigation costs at a higher rate). According to Article 22, certain agricultural producers can benefit from slightly larger subsidies [17].
