2.41.   Environmental protection legislation (Law No. 19.300 of 2010) requires an environmental impact assessment for certain investment projects, depending on their nature and possible effects. This requirement applies to both domestic and foreign investors. The Environmental Impact Assessment System exists for this purpose, with a statutory specialist institutional framework and procedures in place. The procedure gives rise to an Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA), which may classify a project as approved, conditionally approved or rejected.
