33. Conditional prohibition on the importation and exportation of hazardous waste and plastic waste. From 1 January 2021, new requirements for the trade in certain types of plastic waste came into effect under the Basel Convention. Amendments to Imports and Exports (Restrictions) Prohibition Order (No 2) 2004.

Measure description Coverage of the measure
33. Conditional prohibition on the importation and exportation of hazardous waste and plastic waste. From 1 January 2021, new requirements for the trade in certain types of plastic waste came into effect under the Basel Convention. Amendments to Imports and Exports (Restrictions) Prohibition Order (No 2) 2004.
Waste classified as hazardous under the Imports and Exports (Restrictions) Prohibition Order (No 2) 2004, and most mixed plastic waste that is a mixture of different types and values of plastic waste, usually in a mixed bale.
