The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) States and Ecuador is a broad agreement that provides tariff elimination or reduction for the vast majority of trade in goods. The agreement also covers services, investment, intellectual property rights, competition, government procurement, trade and sustainable development as well as legal and horizontal provisions. (...)

The modernized Free Trade Agreement (FTA) aims to liberalize and facilitate trade in goods and services between the Parties in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement and replaces the 1992-FTA between the Parties. Separate annexes on recognition of qualifications of service suppliers (Annex X), movement of natural persons supplying services (Annex XI), electronic commerce (Annex XIII), telecommunication services (Annex XVI), co-productions (Annex XV), financial services (Annex XVI), health services (Annex XVII, not applicable to Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), tourism and travel services (Annex XVII) and international road transport and logistics services (Annex XIX) complement the chapter with additional disciplines specific to those sectors. The Free Trade Agreement between Iceland, the Principality of Liechtenstein and the Kingdom of Norway and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the "Agreement") replaces the Agreement on Trade in Goods between Iceland, the Kingdom of Norway and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (see document series WT/REG430/N/1), which governs current trading arrangements between the United Kingdom and Iceland. The Agreement establishes a free trade area for trade in goods within the meaning of Article XXIV of the GATT 1994 and trade in services within the meaning of Article V of the GATS. The Agreement includes provisions on trade in goods, services, investment, digital and telecommunications, small and medium sized enterprises, and trade and sustainable development, including women's economic empowerment. The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) establishes a free trade area for trade in goods and services within the meaning of GATT 1994 Article XXIV and GATS Article V. The Agreement contains provisions on national treatment and market access for goods, rules of origin and origin procedures, textiles and apparel goods, customs administration and trade facilitation, trade remedies, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, technical barriers to trade, investment, cross-border trade in services, financial services, temporary entry for business persons, telecommunications, electronic commerce, government procurement, competition policy, state-owned enterprises and designated monopolies, intellectual property, labour, environment, cooperation and capacity building, competitiveness and business facilitation, development, small and medium sized enterprises, regulatory coherence, transparency and anti-corruption, administrative and institutional provisions, and dispute settlement. The Agreement establishes a Commission to oversee its implementation.

The massive increase in paint imports is the result of unforeseen developments reflected in the following series of factors:
On the one hand, the implementation of post-COVID-19 economic recovery policies has led to the very rapid resumption of exports from the main paint-exporting countries.
On the other hand, there is a new trend towards using powder paints in developed countries owing to the benefits they offer in terms of durability, aesthetics, design and the environment. This change has boosted exports of liquid paints to African countries, including Madagascar. Moreover, bans on lead paint, which have been implemented in a number of countries owing to its toxicity, have led systematically to the export of lead paint to countries where it is not yet banned.
