Measure description Coverage of the measure
Agriculture, Food and Industry: Northern Ireland: Agricultural Industry Training Scheme (2021 23): The scheme aims to support the delivery of training for the agriculture sector, provided through the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE). The training support provided enables farmers and farm workers to be aware of the emerging issues in agriculture and thereby contribute to the productivity, environmental sustainability, resilience and the efficient operation of the supply chain in the agriculture sector. These courses are offered free of charge to participants.
The subsidy is provided to CAFRE who use the financial assistance to deliver a range of education and technology transfer and innovation programmes for those working in the NI agri food industry. The subsidy covers the costs associated with delivering these courses which are CAFRE staff costs.

The scheme is available to private land owners such as farmers, private forest owners and small and medium scale forest businesses. Grants are based on 80 100% of 'standard costs' which sets out the average cost for carrying out a forest activity.

The RSS is targeted at commercial agriculturalists (defined as those commercial farming businesses which have a minimum annual GBP 40,000 gross margin) or smallholders (part time or small farming businesses which have a minimum annual GBP 5,000 gross margin).
