Environment, Fuel and Transport: England: Plastic Packaging Recycling: (...) Key plastic packaging materials in scope of the scheme were: plastic trays, pots and tubs, in particular those made from PET; plastic films and pouches; and the recycling of plastic packaging into food grade and pharmaceutical packaging applications.
Environment related objective
To support projects to provide new infrastructure and technologies to increase recycling capacity and capability for currently difficult to recycle plastic packaging, thereby diverting this waste from landfill or incineration, so it remains a valuable resource.
Measure description Coverage of the measure
Environment, Fuel and Transport: England: Plastic Packaging Recycling: (...) Key plastic packaging materials in scope of the scheme were: plastic trays, pots and tubs, in particular those made from PET; plastic films and pouches; and the recycling of plastic packaging into food grade and pharmaceutical packaging applications.
The grants were awarded to plastics recycling companies following an open competitive process. Interested parties were invited to submit an Expression of Interest setting out outline proposals, which were considered against a set of published criteria. The focus was on projects providing new infrastructure and technologies to help significantly increase recycling capacity and capability for currently difficult to recycle plastic packaging, such as plastic films and pouches.

Environment, Fuel and Transport: England: Small Scale Textile Recycling and Re Use Grant: (...) While over recent years progress has been made enhancing collections and diverting used textiles from landfill, export markets were approaching saturation before the covid 19 pandemic, and over 330,000 tonnes of clothing were still disposed of in household residual waste in 2017. Additionally, the covid 19 pandemic introduced new and exacerbated existing challenges in the used textiles sector. (...) This fund aimed to encourage innovation and enhance recycling/reuse of used textiles, as well as provide an opportunity to support the sector during covid 19 while also encouraging a longer term shift towards more sustainable practices.

To provide grants towards reducing waste through investment in equipment and innovative solutions to increase the recycling of textiles or extend its lifetime through reuse or repurposing, so that this material remains a valuable resource.

The Textiles Recycling and Re use Grant was open to commercial and not for profit organisations of any size in England. Grants were awarded through a 2 stage competitive process. Recipients of the funding were expected to contribute to the delivery of up to 13,970 tonnes of waste textiles diverted from landfill and 20,068 CO2 emissions avoided, which each award having a specific target. Successful applicants were not required to provide any match funding. In total, 5 companies received awards under the Scheme.

Environment, Fuel and Transport: England: Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas: The scheme provides funding to help local transport authorities (LTAs), outside London, to introduce zero emission buses and the infrastructure needed to support them.

To increase the uptake of zero emission buses, to speed up the full transition to a zero emission bus fleet in England and Wales, to improve air quality in urban areas, and to encourage investment in the UK automotive industry.

Environment, Fuel and Transport: England: Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas: The scheme provides funding to help local transport authorities (LTAs), outside London, to introduce zero emission buses and the infrastructure needed to support them.
Support was provided to local transport authorities. Grants were paid up front as a lump sum via bank transfer. Allocations were determined via an application process and through the submission of business cases.

The scheme is available to bus operators, bus manufacturers, local authorities in Scotland, and finance companies (fleet companies) to acquire buses, which would be operated on passenger transport routes registered with the Traffic Commissioner for Scotland.
