The Forestry Grant Scheme (FGS) supports the forestry sector in Scotland by providing a range of grants for woodland creation and the sustainable management of existing woodlands. The Scottish Government has set out a vision for forestry through the Scottish Forestry Strategy – this recognises that forestry is a long term activity and that forests should be sustainably managed to provide economic, environmental and social benefits. The scheme provides support for a range of activities, including the creation and sustainable management of woodland and forests, the protection from the impacts of non routine pests and diseases, as well as the development of the small scale premium softwood and hardwood processing sector. |
