Aims to ensure that there is an improvement in the environmental condition of the coastal waters; to prevent excess nitrogen from being discharged into the aquatic environment; to reduce nitrogen emissions.

Participants, mainly farmers, are able to apply for the grant, if they fulfil one of the following criteria: They are registered in the Register for Fertilizer Accounts; Have a catch crop area of at least 10 ha; Have one or more fields nearby coastal waters in need of nitrogen reducing efforts.

Companies active in the sectors of fish processing, cellulose or sugar production, and registered in accordance with the VAT Law, qualify for an 80% refund of the tax paid. Companies active in the sectors of organic pigment, pectin and vitamin production, and registered in accordance with the VAT Law, qualify for a 70% refund of the tax paid. The refund only applies to the part of the tax paid exceeding DKK 30,000 (EUR 4,020) annually and only where at least 80% of the fee is attributable to the activities mentioned above.
