Rwanda is rich in biodiversity, including important endemic species of flora and fauna, some of which are endangered. While it is renowned for mountain gorillas, Rwanda is home to three more primate species: chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and the endangered golden monkey.

Despite the constraints posed by the country's relatively small total surface area (26,338 km2), the authorities have allocated 10% of its territory to conservation and protection in four national parks. (...)

There are four programmes under the Strategic Plan for Agricultural Transformation in Rwanda – Phase II, including Programme 1 entilted Intensification and Development of Sustainable Production and aiming at increasing and intensifying productivity of agriculture and animal resources by focusing on soil conservation

Rwanda has prioritised attracting investment in the following areas: (i) information, communication and technology; (ii) tourism; (iii) energy ; (iv) agriculture and agro-based industries, fishing and forestry; (v) industry; (vi) re-export trade; (vii) mining; (viii) research; (ix) infrastructure; and (x) waste recycling

The investment regime, governed by Law No. 26/2005 on Investment and Export Promotion and Facilitation, identified ten priority sectors, including energy; fishing, and forestry; and waste recycling

The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) was established to facilitate new investment and fast tracking economic development by enabling private-sector growth through the collaboration with various Government agencies, including the Environmental Impact Assessment Unit of the Rwanda Environmental Management Authority

Some goods and services are exempted from VAT, including water supply services supplying clean water and sewage treatment services to protect environment for non-profit as well as energy supplies of energy saving bulbs, solar water heaters, wind energy and equipment used in the supply of biogas energy
