NATIONAL SUPPORT SCHEMES FOR AGRICULTURE AND RELATED ACTIVITIES: Support for production of biogas from manure
Subsidies are given to biogas plants that fertilize manure. The aid level is at most SEK 0.4/kWh. The average for 2020 was SEK 0.1/kWh. The aid level is based on the amount of biogas produced by the plant from manure.

RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (EAFRD) FOR SWEDEN 2014 - 2020: Support for production of biogas for motor fuel
Subsidies are given to biogas plants that produce upgraded biogas from all kinds of substrates except sewage sludge. The biogas has to be used as motor fuel. The aid level for 2020 was SEK 0.31/kWh and was based on the amount of biogas produced by the plant during a period of 6 months.

On 24 December 2020, the EU and the UK agreed the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement ("the Agreement") establishing a free trade area between the European Union and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which replaces the previous trading arrangement from 1 January 2021.

The Agreement establishes a free trade area in goods between the United Kingdom and the European Union, within the meaning of Article XXIV:8(b) of the GATT 1994, and for trade in services, an agreement within the meaning of Article V of the GATS. Provisions on trade in goods include provisions on rules of origin, preferential tariffs and other restrictive regulations of commerce. It also includes commitments concerning trade in services, and also covers other aspects of the bilateral relationship, such as public procurement, aviation, energy , road transport, social security cooperation and law enforcement cooperation.
