SCIENCE AND INNOVATION MISSIONS: Mechanism to compensate for the costs of indirect greenhouse gas emissions for enterprises in certain industrial sectors and subsectors that are considered to be exposed to a significant risk of carbon leakage:

The measures fall within the framework of action taken to combat climate change and form part of a legislative package designed primarily to meet the EU's general environmental target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The aid is available to enterprises in certain sectors and subsectors that are considered to be exposed to a significant risk of carbon leakage owing to EU emissions trading scheme (EU ETS) allowance costs passed on in electricity prices (aid for indirect emission costs). The aid must be used to achieve greater reductions of global greenhouse gas emissions, so that enterprises do not leave the EU for locations where they would increase emissions once again

The measures fall within the framework of action taken to combat climate change and form part of a legislative package designed primarily to meet the EU's general environmental target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The aid is available to enterprises in certain sectors and subsectors that are considered to be exposed to a significant risk of carbon leakage owing to EU emissions trading scheme (EU ETS) allowance costs passed on in electricity prices (aid for indirect emission costs). The aid must be used to achieve greater reductions of global greenhouse gas emissions, so that enterprises do not leave the EU for locations where they would increase emissions once again
Trading companies in the private sector, whether or not covered by the emissions trading scheme and regardless of their legal form, which are duly constituted at the time of submission of the application and which engage in one or more activities in the sectors listed in Annex II to the Guidelines on certain State aid measures in the context of the greenhouse gas emission allowance trading scheme, or which produce the products listed in this Annex, under the NACE codes specified therein.
