2019: CONSERVATION OF PLANT AND ANIMAL GENETIC RESOURCES GRANT AID SCHEME:
The management and conservation of animal genetic resources in Ireland is primarily carried out by the relevant breed societies. The management and conservation of plant genetic resources in Ireland is primarily carried out by NGOs with some additional work carried out by State institutions and the Universities. The grant aid is channelled through these organisations based on projects submitted that facilitate the conservation, characterisation, collection and utilisation of plant and animal genetic resources in Ireland. All projects submitted are examined and evaluated by an Advisory Committee, chaired by a senior DAFM official, and consisting of key stakeholders in the area of genetic resources. The subsidy is provided annually by means of a direct grant payment. |
