Nature projects on organogenic land
Environment related objective
To convert arable, organogenic land into permanent grass and discontinue drainage so that the soil becomes wet, which will enhance carbon sequestration because of the high carbon content in this soil type. In addition to soil carbon sequestration, GHG effects comprise reductions in nitrous oxide and methane emissions. Additional benefits are reduced nitrate leaching and ammonia evaporation.
