Community-related programme: The Danish Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020: Natureprojects on organogenic land: The purpose of the scheme is to convert arable, organogenic land into permanent grass and discontinue drainage so that the soil becomes wet. This will enhance carbon sequestration because of the high carbon content in this soil type. In addition to soil carbon sequestration, GHG effects comprise reductions in nitrous oxide and methane emissions. Additional benefits are reduced nitrate leaching and ammonia evaporation.
Environment related objective
To convert arable, organogenic land into permanent grass and discontinue drainage so that the soil becomes wet; enhance carbon sequestration; to reduce nitrous oxide and methane emissions.

Community-related programme: The Danish Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020: Establishment of landscape and biotope improving vegetations, including shelter plants. The establishment of landscape and biotope improving vegetation will help to increase the proportion of small biotopes and improve landscape values on farms. The vegetation may both give favourable living conditions for the natural flora and fauna and also increase public amenity assets in rural areas.
