Australian Paper Maryvale Pulp and Paper Mill Assistance Grant
Environment related objective
This grant will assist Australian Paper to establish a de-inked pulp facility at the company’s Maryvale mill in Victoria. This facility will assist in improving the competitiveness of the Maryvale mill and support the jobs of close to 900 workers directly employed there, as well as over 4,000 indirect jobs which rely on the mill's operations. The facility will divert over 80,000 tonnes a year of white waste paper, that would otherwise be exported or go to landfill, into de-inked pulp which can then be used to manufacture recycled white paper.

The Business Sustainability Alliance (BSA), an initiative of the South Australian Government, brings together the combined expertise of four State Government agencies. The energy efficiency program forms part of the CleverGreen Clean tech Strategies initiative announced by the Minister for Trade and Industry in November 2010.
The energy efficiency program’s intent over time is to develop a series of compelling case studies to encourage other SMEs to undertake energy audits to identify potential energy efficiency improvements.
