Illegal Logging Prohibition Amendment Regulation 2013
Environment related objective
To protect the environment through prohibiting illegal logging. The regulation prescribes due diligence requirements for Australian importers and processors of regulated timber products to reduce the risk of illegally logged timber entering the Australian market. The Regulation requires that Australian importers and processors put in place a due diligence system; gather information before importing or processing a regulated timber product; identify and assess the risk that the regulated timber product(s) has been illegally logged; and mitigate the risk of importing illegally logged regulated timber products.
