CETA is a trade agreement between the EU and Canada establishes a free trade area for trade in goods, within the meaning of Article XXIV of the GATT 1994, and for trade in services, within the meaning of Article V of the GATS. The Agreement also contains provisions on Government procurement, Investment, IPR, Competition, Subsidies and State Owned Enterprises, Regulatory Cooperation, Trade and Sustainable Development and a Dispute Settlement Mechanism. CETA also contains a new Investment Court System to address investor-to-state disputes These provisions and the ones related to investment protection will enter into force after all EU Member States have ratified the agreement.

The EU–Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) contains a political, sectoral cooperation and a trade part, complemented by institutional provisions. In its trade part, the Agreement provides for the liberalization of trade in services within the meaning of Article V of the GATS. The Trade title of the Agreement also contains provisions such as on trade in goods, technical barriers to trade, competition (including subsidies), State Owned Enterprises, public procurement, Intellectual Property Rights (including geographical indications), Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures, customs cooperation, sustainable development, and a Dispute Settlement Mechanism. The Agreement does not include tariff liberalization, nor mandatory technical regulatory alignment in the area of goods.
