The low performance of the sector, including coffee production, has been attributed to a number of factors such as climate change

The Republic of North Macedonia is a party to: the Energy Charter Treaty; the Energy Community; the Agreement of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, including the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement. In addition, the energy policy is geared at transposing the EU energy acquis in terms not only of liberalization but also of energy security, energy efficiency and environmental objectives.

In addition, Japan has been committed to advancing APEC green growth objectives. In 2012, following the Honolulu Declaration, APEC Leaders reached a groundbreaking agreement on the APEC List of Environmental Goods (54 items) that directly and positively contributes to APEC green growth and sustainable development objectives, on which we will reduce applied tariff rates to 5% or less by the end of 2015, taking into account each economy’s economic circumstances, without prejudice to APEC economies’ positions in the WTO.

The goods-only Canada-Jordan free trade agreement, along with the related agreements on labour cooperation and the environment, was signed in June 2009

Against this backdrop, a number of development measures have been taken to address these limitations affecting the agro industrial sector, inter alia:

• Introducing technical differentiation tools: placing a variety of products internationally known for their high quality in specialized markets by adopting differentiation criteria such as traceability; designations of origin; and fair trade, organic, sustainable, etc. certifications.

Peru attaches great importance to the Aid for Trade initiative, a tool that promotes inclusive and sustainable development by building the trade capacity and infrastructure that developing countries need in order to better harness the benefits of international trade and trade agreements.

Government is also granting incentives to encourage the use of solar and photovoltaic systems in both commercial and residential sectors in its efforts to reduce the high fuel import bill of the country.

Manama held the status of ‘Capital of Arab Culture’ in 2012 as part of UNESCO’s cultural capital campaign and was named ‘Capital of Arab Tourism’ in 2013 by the Arab Tourism Organization. In celebration of Bahrain’s 2012 ‘Capital of Arab Culture’ debut, the Ministry of Culture planned a year-long program of performances, seminars, and other events showcasing Arab culture. Each month provided a new focus area ranging from visual arts to poetry, and even the environment.

(…) Eco-tourism, agro-industries, niche-focused agriculture, water, and the quarrying of sand and aggregate are some of the natural resource based industries which Dominica enjoys some comparative advantage and have great potential to generate employment and income growth opportunities. (…)

Brazil also considers bioenergy, including biofuels, an indispensable tool for the expansion and diversification of the energy matrix. Nowadays, biomass electricity – generated mostly from sugarcane processing plants – accounts for about 8.8% of Brazil's total electricity energy supply. By 2024, biomass, wind and solar generation are expected to supply 20.7% of the country's electricity energy needs. In the transportation sector, the use of ethanol and biodiesel plays a key role in the pursuit of sustainable development, climate change mitigation and energy security. The Brazilian case shows that the long term and large scale sustainable production and use of biofuels are possible, and Brazil continues to work towards the creation of an international market for biofuels.
