Likewise, it has participated in the negotiations within the framework of the Doha Development Agenda with the aim of achieving as balanced and ambitious an outcome as possible in the Doha Round, including in the ministerial-level meetings of July 2008. Within the negotiations, Peru has submitted various proposals, individually or jointly with other WTO Members. The areas in which Peru has submitted proposals include agriculture, fisheries subsidies; intellectual property – biodiversity, traditional knowledge and genetic resources; trade facilitation; and environmental goods and services, among others.

On 2 December 2015, the European Commission adopted an ambitious new Circular Economy Package. It is aimed at using resources in a more sustainable manner for the benefit of both the economy and the environment, and to contributing to the sustainable development Goals under the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, notably on responsible consumption and production. The Package is now being implemented with a range of concrete actions. In this context, the EU is in the process of adopting new rules on waste, while a strategy on plastics use, reuse and recycling (including the issue of marine litter) is expected in the course of 2017.

In APEC, the United States worked with other Asia-Pacific economies through the Experts Group on Illegal Logging and Associated Trade to improve the capacity of APEC customs officials to combat illegal logging and associated trade, including by hosting a customs officials workshop held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on August 18-19, 2017. The United States also led the development of a Customs Best Practices Resource Tool designed to assist APEC customs officials in identifying illegal timber shipments and taking appropriate action. As part of this work, the United States strengthened partnerships with international and nongovernmental organizations, such as Interpol and The Nature Conservancy, who play an important role in combating illegal logging and associated trade globally. The United States also concluded an initiative to facilitate trade and investment in sustainable materials management solutions under APEC's Regulatory Cooperation Advancement Mechanism in 2017.

The Australian Government examined import risk analysis (IRA) processes in 2014 to ensure arrangements are sufficiently robust to minimise the risk of exotic pests and disease incursions in Australia. The Department of Agriculture sought input from stakeholders and trading partners on specific elements of the IRA process. Recommendations for administrative and regulatory improvements are being considered in the context of developing regulations and policies for import risk analyses under the Biosecurity Bill 2014.

Belize continues to identify ways to use its fishery resources in a sustainable manner and fight illegal and unreported fishing activities through continued development and implementation of adequate fisheries legislation. Training of enforcement personnel and continued cooperation with collaborators and partners in co-management and compliance with sub-regional and regional fisheries is ongoing.
