The Agenda for Productive Transformation is consolidated through the creation of the Organic Code of Production, covering topics relating to productive development, the development of productive investment and its instruments, external trade, systemic competitiveness, and the sustainability of production, all within a framework of respect for the environment and strengthening of Ecuadorian industry and MSMEs

The importation of merchandise into the country includes an original commercial invoice with the shipper's letter head, stamp and signature. An attestation from the Chamber of Commerce must also accompany the cargo. All goods contained in the invoice must be identified by their HS Code which, in practice, implies that only authorized agents can clear consignments with the GCA. Emphasis was placed to protect the domestic market from products that are hazardous, non-compliant with standardized health norms and those found in violation of intellectual property rights.

A free-trade agreement (FTA) between Bahrain and the United States was concluded in 2004. Bahrain was the first GCC country to do so. This FTA, which entered into force in August 2006, covers trade in goods and services; it also has provisions on investment, intellectual property rights, e-commerce, labour, environment, and dispute settlement. It provides for tariff elimination in agricultural and non-agricultural goods over a maximum of ten years, although a large share of products were granted duty-free access immediately.

The EU is committed to actively helping people around the world trade their way out of poverty. In particular, one of the EU's basic objectives is to ensure that economic growth and development go hand in hand with social justice and sustainable environmental practices, thereby contributing to achieving sustainable development worldwide. The EU's GSP+ scheme and bilateral trade agreements are two of the main instruments in which this principle is applied, as described below.

The European Union -Korea FTA is the first FTA concluded by the European Union to include a comprehensive chapter on trade and sustainable development, which puts a particular emphasis on the commitments of both sides to adhere to internationally recognised standards in the area of labour and environment. The agreement also provides the first example of implementation of such provisions in practice and for the involvement of civil society. Finally, there will be better access to government procurement markets.

(...) According to the Bolivian authorities, the foreign enterprises directly affected by the policy of nationalization and recovery of natural resources received fair, expeditious and adequate indemnification from Bolivia.

With regard to sustainable development: (i) strengthening the legal framework through the formulation of a sustainable development strategy; and (ii) setting up of a National SustainableDevelopment Commission.
