El Salvador takes a special interest in the issues in the area of trade-related environmental discussions being discussed within different WTO bodies and committees

A new Mining Code was adopted by Law No. L/2011/006/CNT of 9 September 2011 and promulgated the same day by the President of the Republic. Aligned with international best practices, it preserves the country’s interests and international competitiveness, with a special emphasis on good governance and corporate social responsibility, to:

The United States has continued to be a global leader in seeking to discipline harmful fisheries subsidies and to eliminate barriers to trade in environmental technologies and services, including clean energy technologies, through the WTO as part of the Doha Development Agenda (DDA) negotiations

Japan actively participates in the WTO in both regular work and in negotiations. In recent years it has focused on the Trade Facilitation Agreement and is a party to the plurilateral negotiations on expanding the Information Technology Agreement, trade in services, and Environmental Goods Agreement.

The EU continues to follow its Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. As such, it has set priorities and targets for certain aspects of the economy, these are:

The 2015 Decree on Direct Investment Incentives (OG No. 80/15) aims to promote the country's development by attracting direct investment in the manufacturing and services sectors. (…) Investment incentives are not awarded for financing projects in the following sectors: (...) production of genetically modified organisms and hazardous waste.

One impact of an initiative such as the VUCE is the reduction in the amount of paper used, which generates significant environmental benefits. The benefit is measured by assessing the main inputs in the paper production process (trees, water and energy). Since the platform became operational, the number of sheets of paper used in procedures has fallen by more than 14 million, which translates into savings of more than 1,700 trees and more than 4 million litres of water.
