Based on Article 32 of the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation, the FDA intends to amend the items of required information that need to be kept by the food businesses which import food and genetically modified food raw materials.

Restrictions on the Manufacture, Import, and Sale of Personal Care and Cosmetics Products Containing Plastic Microbeads (Draft) (5 pages, in English; 3 pages, in Chinese)

With a view to protecting marine environment from plastic microbeads influence, the Environmental Protection Administration intends to propose restrictions on the manufacture, import and sale of personal care and cosmetics products containing plastic microbeads, in reference to the detail and control schedule of the US Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015. Two transition periods will be provided for businesses to comply with the new requirements. For manufacturers and importers, the requirements will be effective on 1 July 2018; for vendors, the requirements will be effective on 1 January 2020.

With a view to enhancing the efficiency of energy use, the Bureau of Energy intends to modify the energy efficiency rating labelling requirements, but the minimum energy performance standards will keep as the same as carried out in 2011, based on related national standards. A transition period about one year will be allowed for manufacturers to adapt to the proposed requirements.

Those who utilize website as a means to announce "the presence conditions of the restricted substance(s)" of the commodities shall also clearly mark the website address on the body, packages, stickers, or the instruction books of the commodities.

In response to technological advances and appearance of new technology products on the markets, the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) proposes to adopt the latest version of inspection standards for 63 items of electrical appliances. In addition, the BSMI proposes to require marking of presence conditions of hazardous substances to make users informed of the use of 6 chemical substances in such products. Such markings shall be made in accordance with Section 5 "Marking of Presence" of CNS 15663 on the body, packages, stickers or the instruction books of the commodities.
