The notified text establishes the thermal performance specifications for thermosiphon solar water heaters, for domestic or commercial use, which have a thermal tank with a capacity of less than 500 litres; the gas saving specifications for solar water heaters that use a gas water heater as backup; and the safety and labelling requirements and test methods.

This draft Mexican Official Standard applies to persons engaged in the construction, large-scale maintenance and abandonment of systems for transporting and distributing, by pipeline, hydrocarbons , petroleum products and petrochemicals in liquid or gaseous form that result from the natural gas processing and oil refining processes, where such activities are conducted in existing rights-of-way located in agricultural and livestock-farming areas, or uncultivated areas, in national territory.

Pursuant to the Law on Ecological Balance and Environmental Protection, the adverse effects on the environment , natural resources , and wild flora and fauna that can be caused by work or activities conducted at federal level that are not subject to the environmental impact assessment procedure, will be subject, where appropriate, to other environmental provisions and Mexican Official Standards.

The notified Mexican Official Standard applies to water closet pans, urinals, wash basins, fill and flush valves, seals, and flow meters, which are manufactured in or imported into, and marketed in, the United Mexican States.

The following items are excluded from the scope of the Standard:

Covers, seats and parts that do not affect the hydraulic operation of water closet pans and urinals.
Latrines, water closet pans for land and marine vehicles, and training toilets that do not use water.

Draft Mexican Official Standard PROY-NOM-168-SEMARNAT-ASEA-2016: Maximum permissible levels for emissions from aeroderivative open-cycle or combined-cycle gas turbines, and the measurement thereof

The notified text is binding on natural and legal persons responsible for new or existing gas turbines, and systems comprising two or more gas turbines, with an overall nominal power rating exceeding 0.5 MW, which are powered by gaseous or liquid fuel and used in industry, commerce and services.

Emergency Mexican Official Standard NOM-EM-002-ASEA-2016 establishing test methods and parameters for the operation, maintenance and efficiency of gasoline vapour recovery systems in service stations selling gasoline to the public, for emission control purposes

The notified Emergency Mexican Official Standard applies to vapour recovery systems in service stations selling gasoline to the public that are located in the delegations and municipalities covered by the Atmospheric Environmental Contingency Programme applicable to the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico.

Emergency Mexican Official Standard NOM-EM-003-ASEA-2016: Industrial safety, operational safety and environmental protection specifications and technical criteria for the design, construction, pre-start up, operation and maintenance of onshore petroleum storage facilities, other than those used for liquefied petroleum gas

The storage of petroleum products is considered one of the most important activities in the hydrocarbon sector chain, since it helps to maintain stable reserves and provides support for other related activities. This activity must therefore be conducted in accordance with procedures that prevent any risk to industrial safety, operational safety and environmental protection. There are currently 73 onshore petroleum storage and distribution terminals in the country (approximately 583 tanks), with an operational capacity of 14.6 million barrels and a nominal storage capacity of 17,341,500 barrels. According to the Ministry of Energy , however, the demand for petroleum will rise to 1,913,000 barrels a day by 2027.

The notified form is issued by SENASICA, within its respective spheres of competence, at ports, airports and borders, with a view to ensuring that imports of organic products are accompanied by the control document pertaining to certain product characteristics.

The use of external power supplies (EPSs) that draw electricity from the mains has seen a sharp increase in recent years and a standard is therefore required to regulate both active-mode and no-load-mode electric power consumption, with a view to reducing such consumption and thereby helping to preserve non- renewable natural resources.

Lead-acid batteries are commonly associated exclusively with motor vehicle batteries, and yet they are now used in other areas such as lighting (rechargeable lamps) and recreation, and in large toys such as electric ride-ons. At the end of their useful life, these batteries are considered to be hazardous waste and are subject to the regulations concerning such waste .
