The notified Memorandum establishes the enhanced measures to be taken with regard to imports of plants, plant products and other items that could carry pests from infested countries, as well as the disinfection measures to be put in place at international ports and airports.

Requirement for a Plant Import Permit for consignment in transit.
Agricultural Commodities are regularly transiting on the Mauritian territory. These include commodities that are not authorised for regular importation in the country, for biosecurity reasons. This measure is an enforcement of the Plant Protection Act of 2006, to ensure the safe transit, landing/shipping of plant, plant products and other regulated products on the Mauritian Territory. Any importer wishing to transit plant, plant products or other regulated products under the Plant Protection Act of 2006 would have to apply for a Plant Import Permit.

Draft Regulations amending the Regulations on fertilisers etc. of organic origin and the Regulations relating to the payment of fees for specific services provided by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority ("sewage sludge-based fertiliser" etc.)
Products with the product designation "sewage sludge-based fertiliser" is to be subject to less stringent use-restriction compared to other sewage-sludge;
• The use of the product designation is to be subject to an authorisation from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. Authorisation may only be given if the product has been treated using methods where the temperature during the hygienisation period is at least 55 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, the product must have a balanced nutrient content adapted to the annual needs of the plants and be suitable for use with at maximum addition of 100kg dry matter per decare per year of the sewage sludge component;
• All operators in the delivery-chain are required to keep a record with information necessary for tracing the products

Import Health Standard for Vehicles, Machinery and Tyres.
Specific requirements for the importation of vehicles, machinery and tyres from Italy.
MPI has made an urgent amendment to the Import Health Standard (IHS) for Vehicles, Machinery and Tyres including components and parts (VMT items) for specific items from Italy. This is required to appropriately manage the risk of Brown Marmorated Stink Bug – BMSB (Halyomorpha halys) infestation.
BMSB is a regulated pest of great concern to New Zealand as it could have a significant impact on our agricultural and horticultural industries, and the NZ environment if it established.

Craft Risk Management Standard for Biofouling on Vessels Arriving to New Zealand.
The Craft Risk Management Standard for Biofouling on Vessels Arriving to New Zealand manages the biosecurity risk associated with biofouling on international vessels by stipulating that all vessels arrive in New Zealand with a clean hull. The definition of a clean hull is based on the vessel's itinerary in New Zealand and is detailed in the Standard. Vessels from any country (including New Zealand) arriving in New Zealand from the territory of another nation will need to provide evidence that biofouling has been managed to the defined clean hull thresholds in order to comply with the Standard. For vessels using best practices to manage biofouling, compliance with the Standard will only require extra record-keeping, so it is not expected to have a strong impact on trade.

This Joint Department Circular shall apply to the research, development, handling and use, transboundary movement, release into the environment, and management of genetically -modified plant and plant products derived from the use of modern biotechnology, included under "regulated articles".

The Philippine National Standard (PNS) Code of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for Coconut intends to provide guidelines in the production and primary processing of coconut. The practices enumerated in the Standard are aimed towards prevention and reduction of risk occurrences, which include those of food safety, environmental impact, worker's health, safety, and welfare, and product quality.

The draft amendment on Article 8-1 of "Standards for Types and Tolerance Levels of Pathogenic Microorganisms and Health-hazard Materials in Pet Food" amends the maximum permitted levels of radioactive contamination of pet food according to research and regulations of some countries.

The notified Ministerial Resolution prohibits the use throughout national territory of ethion-based veterinary products, such as anti-fly, anti-larval, anti-mange, anti-lice and anti-tick products, as pour-ons or for environmental application. The use of ethion is permitted exclusively in anti-tick products administered by dipping or spraying.
