NEA is proposing to tighten emissions for new two and three wheeled motorcycles to the Euro IV emission standards as listed in Regulation (EU) No 168/2013. In particular, the following emission standards will be legislated through their inclusion in the Environmental Protection and Management (Vehicular Emissions) Regulations
Motorcycles (including mopeds) and cycles fitted with an auxiliary motor, with or without side-cars; side cars.

Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for motors set at IE3* (Premium Efficiency) class will be effective from 1 October 2018. Only motors that meet the prescribed MEPS requirements will be permitted to be sold in Singapore. The Energy Conservation (Registrable Goods) Order 2013, Energy Conservation (Energy Labelling and Minimum Performance Standards for Registrable Goods) Regulations 2013 and the Energy Conservation (Composition of Offences) Regulations 2013 will be amended to introduce MEPS for motors.
Single speed, three-phase 50 Hz induction motors that have:

• 2, 4 and 6 poles;
• rated output power from 0.75 kW to 375 kW;
• rated voltage up to 1,000V; and
• rated on the basis of continuous duty operation

The placing on the market of rinse-off cosmetics that contain plastic particles which have been added for exfoliating, cleaning and polishing purposes is prohibited. An exception is made for plastic particles that consist only of naturally occurring polymers that have not been chemically modified as a raw material if it is shown that they biodegrade quickly to monomers in an aquatic environment and that they are not liable to cause damage to aquatic organisms.
Environment related objective
Protection of the environment; The purpose of the regulation is to reduce the discharge to sea, lakes and watercourses of plastic particles less than 5 mm in size in any dimension from rinse-off cosmetic products. It aims to minimize the effects of one the major threats to the marine plant and wildlife, namely plastic waste and microplastics. Since there is no technology to capture and collect plastic particles of micrometer size or less, these particles can reach the marine environment in sea, lakes and streams. It is therefore necessary to take measures at the source which will prevent plastic particles from reaching the marine environment.

The placing on the market of rinse-off cosmetics that contain plastic particles which have been added for exfoliating, cleaning and polishing purposes is prohibited. The Environment Protection (Restriction of Plastic Bags) Regulations: This set of regulations will restrict the importation of certain types of plastic bags into the Seychelles. The only plastic bags that will be allowed entry are the plastic bags featured on the exemption list, found in the First Schedule of the above mentioned regulations. The content of the exemption list will be reviewed periodically. Import permits will be approved for the importation of biodegradable bags and exempted plastic bags only. These biodegradable bags will have to be accompanied by a certificate of conformity to the applicable standards provided for in the Second Schedule of the regulations. Validation of the certificate of conformity will be undertaken by the Seychelles Bureau of Standards.

The objective of the two technical regulations is to protect the environment and wildlife, manage solid waste and reduce pollution by restricting the importation and use of plastic carrier bags, utensils and polystyrene takeaway boxes in the Seychelles
