The PPGTP provided contribution funding to pulp and paper companies for environmental upgrades to Canadian facilities, based on a credits system.

To promote R&D in forest biomass, forest biotechnology.
The objective of the TTP is to provide funding for pre-competitive, non-proprietary R&D to address the development and adaptation of emerging technologies such as forest biomass, forest biotechnology and nanotechnology. Funding enabled research to focus on the development of breakthrough technologies related to forest biomass utilization, nanotechnology, and next-generation forest products as well as addressing on-going productivity challenges facing the industry.

To mitigate ecological impacts of invasive plants.
The Invasive Plant Management Program works with stakeholders and land managers across the province to develop and implement best management practices to mitigate the economic, social and ecological impacts of invasive plants.

To manage waste.
Funding is provided to help slaughterhouse facility operators, renderers and meat processors dispose of specified risk material in an efficient, cost-effective manner.

To promote renewable resources.
The Contribution for Commercial Renewable Resource Use Program provides financial assistance to businesses operating in the renewable resource industry in Nunavut.

To promote renewable energies.
By pursuing innovative solutions to renewable energy generation and conservation, northerners will be able to reduce their costs of energy consumption and position the North for future growth. This program is designed to help northern organizations to capitalize on energy opportunities, pursue clean alternatives and reduce their demand on external energy sources.

To promote energy efficiency.
The Northern Industrial Electricity Rate Program assist Northern Ontario's largest industrial electricity consumers develop and implement long-term efficiency and sustainability measures. Provides greater electricity efficiency for participants by committing an Energy Management Plan.

To promote improved environmental technologies.
Support is provided to automotive companies undertaking leading-edge manufacturing initiatives skills training for workers, improved environmental technologies and needed public infrastructure.

To support bio -economy and clean technologies.
The exemption is available to qualifying corporations that commercialize intellectual property in priority areas such as bio -economy/ clean technologies; advanced health technologies and certain telecommunications, computer and digital technologies.

To promote biotechnologies.
The program is available to companies engaged in innovation in biotechnology, including human health, animal or plant agricultural biotechnology; the environment; or human or animal nutrition, in one of four Biotechnology Development Centres: Laval, Lévis, Saint-Hyacinthe and Sherbrooke.
