• Household refrigerating appliances classified under tariff subheadings 8418.10, 8418.21, 8418.22, 8418.29, 8418.30 and 8418.40.
• Household electric fans, classified under tariff subheadings 8414.51 and 8414.59.
• Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) classified under tariff subheading 8539.31.10.
• Electric smoothing irons classified under tariff subheading 8516.40.
• Air-conditioning machines classified under tariff subheadings 8415.10 (window or wall types); 8415.82 and 8415.83 (split systems).
• Microwave ovens classified under tariff subheading 8516.50.
• Electric rice cookers classified under tariff subheading 8516.79.
• Electric pressure cookers classified under tariff subheading 8516.79.
• Electric coffee makers classified under tariff subheading 8516.71.
• Household electric washing machines classified under tariff subheadings 8450.11, 8450.12, 8450.19 and 8450.90.

Non-traditional construction products and systems (new products or the new use of a traditional product):
- Industrially manufactured products and systems.
- Perfectly identifiable products and systems.
- Products and systems intended for a specific and unequivocal use.

Assemblies, accessories and parts of motor vehicles, railway vehicles, ships and boats, and workshops, laboratories and other installations engaged in production and in the provision of services in the various transport sectors and in port activities

The importation of heritage property which includes any of the species protected under the CITES Convention

Ozone-depleting substances (ODS); Mixtures of substances containing ODS; and Products & equipment containing or relying on ODS

Imports for the following uses require quota:
• Essential laboratory and analytical uses;
• Halons for critical uses;
• Feedstock uses;
• Process agent uses.

Hazardous wastes and other wastes as listed in the schedules of the Basel Convention

The import and export of endangered species listed in Appendices I, II and III of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), whether alive, dead, parts or derivatives, as well as a number of non-CITES species

The EU Regulation lays down different requirements and procedures for each of the groupings of species listed in its Annexes A, B, C and Annex D.

Species listed in Annex A: Any transaction with commercial purposes involving specimens of the species listed in this Annex is prohibited. Exemption from this prohibition can be granted on a case-by-case basis, by issuance of a special certificate by a management authority of the Member State in which the specimens are located, provided the specimens:

a. are captive-born and bred, or artificially propagated; or
b. are required, under exceptional circumstances, for the advancement of science or biomedical purposes; or
c. are intended for breeding or propagation purposes; or
d. are intended for research or education aimed at the preservation of the species.

Species listed in Annex B, i.e. most species concerned by the EU Wildlife Trade Regulations: transaction with commercial purposes involving specimens of the species listed in this Annex are possible under a number of strict conditions. Exemptions from this permit requirement can be granted on a case-by-case basis.
Species listed in Annexes C and D need also to meet a number of documentary requirements.
The EU may determine to prohibit the importation of certain specimens or species, either globally or originating from specific third countries. These suspensions are published periodically and affect imports into all EU Member States. The latest list of restrictions is laid down in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 2015/736 of 7 May 2015 prohibiting the introduction into the Union of specimens of certain species of wild fauna and flora.

Ozone depleting substances; and pesticides containing methyl bromide, an ozone depleting substance

All other ozone depleting substances (except for essential or critical uses) are fully banned, only the importation of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) for local consumption is subject to quantitative restriction and import licences.

For methyl bromide which is an ozone depleting substance, import from non parties to the Montreal Protocol are banned. Only imports from Montreal Protocol signatories of methyl bromide are allowed for local consumption starting from 1 January 1995. The import of methyl bromide is restricted to quarantine and pre-shipment applications.
