QR No. 18: Industrial chemicals

The export of the industrial chemicals mentioned is prohibited unless the Director has given written approval for the export at or before the time of the proposed export. The import and manufacture of the industrial chemicals mentioned in (a), (f), (g), (h), (i) or (j) is prohibited unless the Director has given written approval for its introduction at or before the time of the proposed introduction.
Environment related objective
To protect the environment against hazardous industrial chemicals.

QR No. 18: Industrial chemicals

The export of the industrial chemicals mentioned is prohibited unless the Director has given written approval for the export at or before the time of the proposed export. The import and manufacture of the industrial chemicals mentioned in (a), (f), (g), (h), (i) or (j) is prohibited unless the Director has given written approval for its introduction at or before the time of the proposed introduction.
(a) each of the following kinds of polybrominated biphenyls:
(i) hexabromobiphenyl;
(ii) octabromobiphenyl;
(iii) decabromobiphenyl;
(b) tris (2,3 dibromopropyl) phosphate;
(c) polychlorinated biphenyls;
(d) polychlorinated terphenyls;
(e) tetraethyl lead;
(f) tetramethyl lead;
(g) commercial pentabromodiphenyl ether (including tetrabromodiphenyl ether and pentabromodiphenyl ether);
(h) commercial octabromodiphenyl ether (including hexabromodiphenyl ether and heptabromodiphenyl ether);
(i) perfluorooctane sulfonic acid;
(j) perfluorooctane sulfonates, perfluorooctane sulfonamides and perfluorooctane sulfonyls, including the following:
(i) potassium perfluorooctane sulfonate;
(ii) lithium perfluorooctane sulfonate;
(iii) ammonium perfluorooctane sulfonate;
(iv) diethanolammonium perfluorooctane sulfonate;
(v) tetraethylammonium perfluorooctane sulfonate;
(vi) didecyldimethylammonium perfluorooctane sulfonate;
(vii) N ethylperfluorooctane sulfonamide;
(viii) N methylperfluorooctane sulfonamide;
(ix) N ethyl N (2 hydroxyethyl) perfluorooctane sulfonamide;
(x) N (2 hydroxyethyl) N methylperfluorooctane sulfonamide;
(xi) perfluorooctane sulfonyl fluoride.

QR No. 20: Ozone depleting substances/Synthetic Greenhouse Gases

All exporters require a licence prior to exporting bulk gas. Exporters are also required to report quarterly on exports.

To manage ozone depleting substances/synthetic greenhouse gases through export licences on bulk gas.

QR No. 20: Ozone depleting substances/Synthetic Greenhouse Gases

All exporters require a licence prior to exporting bulk gas. Exporters are also required to report quarterly on exports.
Chemicals including chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs); halons carbon tetrachloride; methyl chloroform; hydro -chlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs); hydro -fluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), bromochloromethane (BCMs), methyl bromide and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6). There is an absolute prohibition on the export of hydrbromfluorocarbons (HBFCs)

QR No. 24: Radioactive substances

The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) issues export permits for the exportation from Australia of high activity radioactive sources under Regulation 9AD of the Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulations 1958. Regulation 9 of the Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulation is administered by the Department of Industry.

To protect the environment from radioactive substances.

QR No. 24: Radioactive substances

The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) issues export permits for the exportation from Australia of high activity radioactive sources under Regulation 9AD of the Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulations 1958. Regulation 9 of the Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulation is administered by the Department of Industry.
Uranium, thorium and fissionable materials including plutonium, as per schedule 7A of the Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulations 1958.

Exports of toothfish and parts of toothfish whether fresh, frozen,, smoked, preserved in containers, or in any other form are prohibited unless a permission in writing has been obtained from the Minister administering the Fisheries Management Act 1991 or an authorised officer from the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA)
Antarctic Toothfish and Patagonian Toothfish found in sub-Antarctic and Antarctic waters, including waters around Australia's external territory of Heard Island and McDonald Islands. Applies to all fish and fish parts of this species whether fresh, frozen, smoked, preserved in airtight containers or in any other form.
