3. TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER PARAGRAPH 3(iii) OF THE DECISION
The key objectives of the Swiss law on international cooperation are as follows:
• To support the efforts of developing countries to improve the standard of living of their people;
• to help to put these countries in a position to ensure their development by their own means.

The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs devises the economic and trade measures for development cooperation: the promotion of basic infrastructure in the energy, water treatment and land registry sectors; macroeconomic assistance, budgetary support, debt relief and management measures; trade promotion activities, development of environmental technologies and a commitment to international organizations in respect of commodities; and promotion of the private sector through improved access to finance and strengthening of the framework conditions necessary to boost investment.
