Weed Seeds Order
The CFIA is proposing revisions to the Weed Seeds Order (WSO) under the Seeds Act to reclassify certain species currently on the list and to introduce new weed species to the list. The purpose of the WSO is to specify the kinds of plants whose seeds are weed seeds in order to control the introduction and spread of weeds in seed. Weeds are classified based on distribution and potential harm posed by the species .
Class 1 - Prohibited Noxious Weed Seeds (Applicable to all tables of Schedule I to the Seeds Regulations) has been revised to add 17 new species of weed seeds and to reclassify 11 species of weed seeds from Class 1 to Class 2 (Primary Noxious Weed Seeds) .

Phytosanitary requirements for the importation, temporary admission and transit of used machinery, and repeal of Resolution No. 2.979 of 2001
1. The notified text establishes phytosanitary requirements for the importation, temporary admission and transit of used machinery.
2. Used machinery shall be understood to mean the following: agricultural, forestry , gardening and earth-moving machinery, equipment, tools and parts thereof, waste compactors, and any other machinery designated by the Service, in accordance with the associated phytosanitary risk.

3. Used machinery entering national territory, whether imported or admitted temporarily, must be clean and free of soil , plant remains and regulated pests. To this end it must be clean ed inside and out, in the country of origin, using a pressure washer, steam, forced or aspirated air, or another appropriate method, with parts being disassembled if necessary.

Specific health requirements for the importation into Chile of ornamental and exhibition birds

This Administrative Measure revises Decree No. 44 of AQSIQ. It stipulates the inspection, quarantine and supervision requirements for entry of aquatic animals. The purpose of this administrative measure is to implement risk-based supervision of inspection and quarantine requirements for entry of aquatic animals, and to implement classified and creditable supervision of enterprises on the basis of a risk analysis approach. This administrative measure will establish:
• A quarantine access system to conduct risk analysis, as well as a safety and health control system to evaluate aquatic animals imported for the first time, and also to review traditional trade. The access list will be released by AQSIQ;
• A traceability system, whereby overseas-based aquaculture and packaging enterprises will be requested to be registered. Chinese importers will also be requested to be registered and to establish business records; and
• A safety supervision system based on an official monitoring plan to ensure the safe entry of aquatic animals.

This standard includes maximum limits of toxic and hazardous substances and microorganism in animal feed and test methods.

The notified Resolution establishes the mandatory phytosanitary requirements governing the importation into Costa Rica of fresh bananas (Musa x paradisiaca) in bulk for processing from Panama.

The notified text establishes mandatory phytosanitary requirements governing the importation of rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) seeds for sowing from Guatemala.

Central American Technical Regulation (RTCA) No. 67.06.74:16: Organic agricultural products. Production, processing, marketing, certification and labelling requirements
The notified Technical Regulation establishes the provisions and procedures governing the production, registration, certification, processing, labelling, storage, transport and marketing of organic agricultural products. It applies to the following products that carry or should carry a descriptive label relating to organic production methods.

Draft Commission Directive amending Directive 2001/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the environmental risk assessment of genetically modified organisms.
This draft Directive updates certain annexes to Directive 2001/18/EC as regards the environmental risk assessment of GMOs , in order to adapt them to technical progress and in the light of the Guidance documents of the European Food safety Authority concerning the environmental risk assessment of genetically modified plants. The list of information that notifyers must provide under Directive 2001/18/EC is also updated accordingly.
