Article 251 of the Constitution prohibits the import of agricultural foodstuffs and their byproducts, except in cases of force majeure, because it is deemed that sufficient quantities are produced domestically. There is no legislation regarding GMOs. The authorities indicated that the importation of GMOs is not subject to special procedures or restrictions. Dominica is a contracting party to the IPPC, and a member of the Codex Alimentarius Commission. It is not a member of the OIE.
